SOCIETAL CHALLENGES:
ENERGY USE & LONELINESS
Overconsumption of energy is a major environmental issue. It strips our planet of its natural resources, affects climate patterns, and increases the amount of carbon dioxide emissions.
Loneliness is yet another pressing concern. Feeling and being alone is even more threatening to our lives than obesity, not exercising, or drinking 6 glasses of alcohol per day.
OUR SOLUTION
We want to reduce energy use through decreasing societal loneliness. Why?
Because just like penguins, people rely on touch and cuddling to keep themselves warm. Research indicates that those who do not have a fellow penguin, and especially those who truly feel alone, are at a higher risk of using unnecessary energy. |

OUR PLAN
Our project is divided in three stages:
STAGE 1: CORRELATIONAL RESEARCH
where we investigate the link
between loneliness & energy use
|
|
STAGE 2: MORE COMPLEX RESEARCH
which will help us gauge the
predeterminants for an intervention
|
|
STAGE 3: INTERVENTION
where we will reduce energy use
through reducing societal loneliness |
